Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Aurora' / Aurora Hinoki cypress

Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Aurora' is a broadly conical dwarf selection of Hinoki cypress with dense, rich, greenish yellow foliage. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 1.5 to 2 feet (50 - 60 cm) tall and 1 to 1.5 feet (30 - 50 cm) wide, an annual growth rate of 2 inches (5 cm).

This cultivar originated as golden sport found in 1940 on a specimen of Ch. obtusa 'Nana Gracilis' by M. Koster and Sons Nursery, Boskoop, The Netherlands.
