John Martin announces retirement
At the winter meeting of the ACS Board of Directors in Tampa longtime National Office manager John Martin announced his intention to retire at the end of the year or as soon as a replacement can be found. Martin, who took the job in 2000, presided over a period of extraordinary growth.
John kept the Society organized and consistent over the tenure of the seven Presidents, said current President Larry Nau. He ran the National office smoothly responding to requests and making sure all the membership details are taken care of promptly. Additionally, he has done a superb job in reporting to the BOD on the state of the ACS with regards to membership, budgets and updating us on our various financial funds.
Martin and his wife Susan, a former curator at the National Arboretum and an early member of ACS who served in a variety of volunteer positions over the years, intend to spend the coming years traveling.
Past President Ethan Johnson has posted the job description for the position and will supervise the search for Martin's replacement. (ACS Office Manager Job Description)
