Coneheads gather in Sonoma County, CA
SF Bay Area coneheads know that Pond and Garden Nursery, in Cotati, is the place to go for the best selection of choice dwarf conifers (as well as Japanese maples and other specialty plants). However, the nursery's reputation extends throughout California, and last weekend saw both Dan Spear, of Orange, and Mary Anne Payne, the Director of the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens (an ACS Reference Garden), at P&G picking up plants. Jack Christiansen and Gerry Fields headed to Sonoma County to the Redwood Empire Bonsai show, and to pick up plants that they had purchased at the WR meeting auction and at European Nursery earlier in the month. Maryann Lewis headed over from the East Bay for the same reason. Suddenly, there was critical mass! As word leaked out others joined in and we had about a dozen at my house, touring the garden and eating an al fresco brunch before everyone had to hit the road. My garden will be a stop on the next Annual Meeting, so here are some photos by Jack Christiansen to tempt you to join us in September 2015. More info about the 2015 Annual Meeting.
