Tom Cox Funeral

The ACS is saddened to learn of the passing of Tom Cox of Canton, GA, who contributed many volunteer hours over two decades of service. This included his role as ACS VP, President, and Past President. Tom traveled the world in search of conifers and wrote numerous articles for the CQ. He organized and led several overseas tours. Tom developed the 13-acre Cox Arboretum with almost every species of conifer that would grow in his zone. He co-wrote a book, "Landscaping with Conifers and Ginkgo for the Southeast" with John M. Ruter. In 2016, Tom Cox was awarded the Marvin & Emelie Snyder Award for Dedicated Support of the American Conifer Society. Tom's wife, Evelyn, also served as the CQ editor. We thank them for their many contributions to the society.

Visitation will be Monday, March 20th from 5-7pm at Darby Funeral Home.
The funeral will be Tuesday, March 21st at 2pm in the chapel of Darby Funeral Home with Minister Paul Thomas officiating.

Interment will follow at 2:30pm at Georgia National Cemetery. He is survived by:
Wife - Evelyn Cox of Canton
Daughter - Cheri Dawn (Ashley) Ruggles
Grandchildren - Zach Lopett, Stuart Thomas Willford, Austin Ruggles, Colt Neal, and Ashley Taylor Ruggles
1 great-grandchild also survives.
