Tsuga chinensis var. forrestii

Tsuga chinensis var. forrestii, first described in 1990 by (Downie) John Silba (born 1961), is known as 丽江铁杉 (li jiang tie shan) in the Chinese language. It is treated as a separate species, namely Tsuga forrestii, by some authorities.

T. c. var. forrestii differs from the typical variety in the following ways:

Distribution. This variety is native to China — northeatern Guizhou (Jiangkou: Fanjing Shan), southwestern Sichuan, and northwestern Yunnan provinces, growing at elevations of 6,500 to 9,600 feet (2,000 - 3,000 m) above sea level in mountains, valleys, and mixed forests.
