Welcome to the American Conifer Society Database

Taxodium distichum × mucronatum

Taxodium distichum × mucronatum is a hybrid cross of Taxodium distichum (bald cypress) and Taxodium mucronatum (Montezuma cypress). This cross was made in China in the late 1970s to early 1980s by Dr. Chen Yong Hui of the Nanjing Botanical Garden. The resulting progeny combine the growth form and habit of T. distichum with the evergreen nature and rapid growth of T. mucronatum.

Typical rate of growth is greater than 1 foot (30 cm) a year producing a large tree up to 16 feet (4.8 m) tall over the first 10 years, but will eventually mature to 70 feet (20 m) tall or more over time
