Welcome to the American Conifer Society Database

Sequoiadendron giganteum ‘Compactum’

One of the most widely known dwarfs, this plant has a pyramidal compact upright habit with thick, short branches. In the summer it has a fresh green color that changes during fall. Some people choose to keep cutting the leader so that it retains a small globe shape. In 10 years the plant reaches a height and width of about 3 ft., without pruning. -ACS Bulletin, Summer 2000, Vol.17, No.3, p. 120, Nelis Kools, Kools Nursery, Netherlands
