Sequoia sempervirens ‘Variegata’

Sequoia sempervirens

Sequoia sempervirens 'Variegata' is a strong and fast-growing selection of Coast redwood with dense branching and relatively short branchlets holding Blue-green needles variegated with yellowish splashes. The needles tend to appear layered along the branchlet creating a quadrangular effect in the foliage.

After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 25 feet (8 m) or more in height and two-thirds as wide, an annual growth rate of 2.5 feet (75 cm) or more.

'Variegata' is an old cultivar that was first described in the late 1800s by Élie-Abel Carrière as found at the Croux Nursery near Paris, France.
