Sciadopitys verticillata ‘Ossorio Gold’

Unusual for their golden yellow needles, these forms are very rare and prized by collectors.

Sciadopitys verticillata 'Ossorio Gold' is a slow-growing, upright conical selection of Japanese umbrella-pine with attractive, long, golden needles. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 6 feet (2 m) tall and 40 inches (1 m) wide, an annual growth rate of 6 to 8 inches (15 - 20 cm).

This cultivar originated as a seedling selected by Alphonso Ossorio of Long Island, New York, USA and introduced to the nursery trade around 1980 by Bob Fincham's Coenosium Gardens.
