Podocarpus macrophyllus 'Aurea'

An upright to somewhat oval shrub or small tree with needle-like foliage. Leaves are flat and a lustrous dark green. Podocarps are gymnosperms like pines, spruces and cycads; they bear cones. Neither male nor female flowers. Catkin-like structures on male plants or scale-like ovules on females are showy. Little berries produced are edible and not poisonous, but not very appealing either. This is an excellent woody foliage shrub, and may be carved or shaped into round or square columns or cones. Although it has a moderate to slow rate of growth, it can become very large if left alone to grow undisturbed.
