Pinus thunbergii ‘Emery's Dwarf’

Pinus thunbergii 'Emery's Dwarf' is a slow growing, globose selection of Japanese black pine with stubby, symmetrical branching and short, medium green needles with a yellowish cast. An added feature is bright white foliar buds which contribute a very pleasing contrast. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 16 inches (40 cm) tall and wide, an annual growth rate of a little more than 1 inch (2.5 cm).

This cultivar originated as a special selection made in the late 1990s by John Emery of Yamina Rare Plants Nursery, Monbulk, Victoria, Australia.
