Pinus sylvestris ‘Troll’

Pinus sylvestris 'Troll' is an ultra-dense, miniature selection of Scots pine with fine, light-green needles and numerous reddish buds. Typical rate of growth in less than 1 inch (2.5 cm) annually. After 10 years, with proper care, one can expect a dense, 10 inch (25 cm) cushion of needles. As is true with many pine cultivars such as this, it is absolutely necessary to clean out old needles and debris on a yearly basis in order to maintain good air circulation and issues with fungal diseases.

This cultivar originated as a witch's broom found by Güsnther Horstmann in SkjÃ¥k, Norway and introduced to the nursery trade by the Uwe Horstmann nursery in 2003.
