Pinus sylvestris 'Troll'

Pinus sylvestris 'Troll' is an ultra-dense, miniature selection of Scots pine with fine, light green needles and numerous reddish buds. Typical rate of growth in less than 1 inch (< 2.5 cm) per year. After 10 years, a dense 10 inch (25 cm) cushion can be expected with proper care. As is true with many pine cultivars such as this, it will be necessary to clean out old needles and debris on a yearly basis to maintain good air circulation and issues with fungal diseases.

This cultivar originated as a witch's broom found by Günter Horstmann in Skjåk, Norway and introduced to the nursery trade by the Uwe Horstmann nursery in 2003.
