Welcome to the American Conifer Society Database

Established in 1983, our mission is centered on advocating for the integration of conifer trees in garden designs and landscapes. We are dedicated to educating enthusiasts and the general public about the proper care, cultivation, and conservation of these majestic and diverse evergreens.

Pinus strobus ‘Macopin’

Discovered as a witch's broom in Macopin, NJ, in 1979 by William Gotelli and George Erhle, this dwarf, globose form has a tendency to grow irregularly with age and get "shrubby." If given the room to grow it makes a nice focal point. Typical Blue-green needles of the Eastern White Pine but will produce abundant cones even at an early age. Will take some shade but prefers full sun to achieve its best. Tolerant of most locations but will prosper in fertile, well-drained soil.
