Conifer Trees Database

Welcome to the American Conifer Society Database

Established in 1983, our mission is centered on advocating for the integration of conifer trees in garden designs and landscapes. We are dedicated to educating enthusiasts and the general public about the proper care, cultivation, and conservation of these majestic and diverse evergreens.

Pinus ponderosa ‘Pondy’

[RHS Encyclopedia of Conifers, Auders & Spicer] A globose dwarf ponderosa pine with light, blue-green needles that are smaller than those of the species. Originated before 2002 through Jerry Morris and is part of the Jerry Morris Collection of Rocky Mountain Conifers.

Pondy grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) annually, and will form a nicely formed 5-foot (1.5 m) tall small tree after ten years of growth. Best use is in the smaller garden in full sun. This conifer will tolerate rocky, dry soil beautifully.
