Conifer Trees Database

Welcome to the American Conifer Society Database

Established in 1983, our mission is centered on advocating for the integration of conifer trees in garden designs and landscapes. We are dedicated to educating enthusiasts and the general public about the proper care, cultivation, and conservation of these majestic and diverse evergreens.

Pinus monophylla ‘Blue Jazz’

Pinus monophylla 'Blue Jazz' is a dwarf, tight, globose- to pyramidal selection of Singleleaf Piñon pine with dense, uniform branching and intensely Blue foliage. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 18 to 24 inches (45 - 60 cm) tall and wide, an annual growth rate of 1.5 to 2 inches (4.5 - 6 cm).

This conifer is an ideal choice for xeric landscaping. Full sun exposure with sharply drained soil is a must for all members of this species.

This cultivar originated as a witch's broom found along a roadside in Nevada, by Jerry Morris of Colorado, USA. 'Blue Jazz' was selected in 2018 as the ACS Western Region's featured conifer of the year.
