Pinus heldreichii ‘Indigo Eyes’

Pinus heldreichii

Pinus heldreichii 'Indigo Eyes' is a broadly upright, semi-dwarf selection of Bosnian pine with open branching; shiny, dark-green needles; and a yearly profusion of dark, indigo-Blue young conelets at the branch tips, even at an early age. According to the Iseli Nursery website, 'Indigo Eyes'™ demands attention and deserves greater use in gardens. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 6 feet (2 m) tall and 4.5 feet (1.5 m) wide, an annual growth rate of 6 to 8 inches (15 - 20 cm).

This cultivar originated as a seedling selected in the late 1980s at Iseli Nursery, Inc. Boring, Oregon, USA.
