Pinus × densithunbergii ‘Edsal Wood’

Pinus × densithunbergii 'Edsal Wood' is a diminutive, flattened cushion form of Japanese hybrid pine with short, bright-green needles that grow with a slight twist. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 12 inches (30 cm) tall and 20 inches (50 cm) wide, an annual growth rate of 1 to 2 inches (2.5 - 5 cm).

This cultivar originated as a seedling selected in the 1990s by Edsal Wood, Aurora, Oregon and introduced to the nursery trade via Bonsai Village Nursery and PorterHowse Farms. Even though listed here as densiflora × thunbergii hybrid, some speculate that it may be a densiflora × mugo hybrid.
