Picea schrenkiana subsp. tianschanica

Picea schrenkiana subsp. tianschanica, first described in 1869 by Franz Josef Ruprecht (1814-1870), work completed by Boris Bykov, is a subspecies of Schrenk's spruce that is differentiated from the type through shorter needles, 0.7 to 1 inch (1.5 - 2.5 cm) versus 0.8 to 1.4 inches (2 - 3.5 cm) in length. Further, this subspecies is relegated to a specific region of the western Tian Shan mountain range, in Kyrgyzstan.
