Picea pungens ‘Scottie’

Picea pungens 'Scottie' is a densely conical dwarf selection of Colorado spruce. Its tight, symmetrical branching angle slightly upward to a somewhat fastigiate effect. Needles are densely held and are a pleasing powder Blue in color. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 32 inches (80 cm) tall and 2-thirds as wide, an annual growth rate of 2 to 3 inches (5 - 7.5 cm).

This cultivar originated as a seedling selected in the early 1980s at Schaeffer's nursery, Gresham, Oregon, USA. It is named in honor of Scott Schaeffer, the nursery owner/proprietor.
