Conifer Trees Database

Welcome to the American Conifer Society Database

Established in 1983, our mission is centered on advocating for the integration of conifer trees in garden designs and landscapes. We are dedicated to educating enthusiasts and the general public about the proper care, cultivation, and conservation of these majestic and diverse evergreens.

Picea pungens (JB's Broom)

[Dax Herbst, Conifer Collector and Propagator] This witches' broom, found on a seedling-tree Picea pungens var. glauca at a residence in Clinton, IA, was donated by the homeowner to Bickelhaupt Arboretum, Clinton, IA, where it remained until the ortet tree/broom perished. It's one of the rarer cultivars to be found for sale, currently, but it is in collector gardens where wood is being shared with propagators as recently as winters: 2011-2013. Expect to find it for sale in the near future at specialty conifer nurseries.
