Picea pungens 'Barabits Blue' / Barabits Blue Colorado spruce

Picea pungens 'Barabits Blue' is a upright, slow growing selection of Colorado spruce with dense branching and attractive, bright, silvery-blue needles. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 4.5 feet (1.5 m) tall and 2.5 feet (75 cm) wide, an annual growth rate of 4 to 6 inches (10 - 15 cm).

This cultivar originated as a seedling selected in 1975 by Elemér Barabits of Sopron, Hungary, and introduced to the nursery trade by Elemér's Egzota Nursery. The original specimen still lives in in the Barabits’ Lővér Pinetum.
