Conifer Trees Database

Welcome to the American Conifer Society Database

Established in 1983, our mission is centered on advocating for the integration of conifer trees in garden designs and landscapes. We are dedicated to educating enthusiasts and the general public about the proper care, cultivation, and conservation of these majestic and diverse evergreens.

Picea glauca (Metzger Broom)

The original broom and mother tree was moved into the Heartland Collection in the fall of 1989. In 2002, the original broom had died because of shading and lack of sunlight from the mother tree despite continual pruning of the mother tree. At that time the original tree was also removed. Fortunately, the propagation from the original witch's broom lives on and is thriving only a short distance from where the original mother tree was located in the Arboretum.
