Picea alcoquiana var. acicularis

Picea alcoquiana var. acicularis, first described by (Maxim. ex Beissn.) Fitschen (1930)

synonym: Picea shirasawae (Hayashi).

This variety of Alcock's Spruce is found in central Honshu (Yatsuga-take Mountains). New Shoots are pubescent and and the needles are short, strongly curved and glaucous. The seed cones are up to 6 inches long with scales having and entire or denticulate margin.
