Picea abies 'Tufty' / Tufty Norway spruce

Picea abies 'Tufty' is a slow-growing, irregular globose selection of Norway spruce with thin, dense branches and sparse, tiny yellow-green needles that are slightly denser and longer at the branch tips, presenting a "tufty" effect. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 3 feet (1 m) tall and 20 inches (50 cm) wide, an annual growth rate of 3 to 4 inches (7.5 - 10 cm).
This cultivar originated as a seedling selected in the mid-1970s by J.W. Archer of Farnham, Surrey, United Kingdom and introduced to the nursery trade by Wansdyke Nursery, Devizes, Wilts, UK.
