Picea abies ‘Sonnenberg’

Picea abies

Picea abies 'Sonnenberg' is an extremely slow growing, miniature, flattened-globose selection of Norway spuce with uniform, slightly layered branches and short, thick, bluish-green needles. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 10 inches (25 cm) tall and 12 inches (30 cm) wide, an annual growth rate of 1 inch (2.5 cm) or less.

This cultivar originated as a witch's broom found in 1969 by Karel KalouС of Czech Republic. "Sonnenberg" translates into "Sunny Mountain" in the German language.
