Picea abies 'Luua Pärl' / Luua Pärl Norway spruce

Picea abies 'Luua Pärl' is an symmetrical upright, broadly pyramidal dwarf selection of Norway spruce with multiple leaders, radiating branches and glossy, light green needles. In late winter, the whitish buds will look like tiny pearls sitting atop of the foliage. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 20 inches (50 cm) tall and 16 inches (40 cm) wide, an annual growth rate of around 2 inches (5 cm).

This cultivar originated as a seedling selected in 2010 by Sodogeles Nursery, Lithuania from seed sourced from the P. abies 'Luua' growing at Kalsnava Arboretum in Estonia. In the Estonian language, "Luua pärl" translates into "Pearl of Luua." Luua is a village in Palamuse Parish, Jõgeva County in eastern Estonia.
