Picea abies ‘Emsland’

Picea abies

Picea abies 'Emsland' is a moderately fast growing, symmetrically conical selection of Norway spruce with multiple lead shoots, short, stiff branches and radially arranged bright-green foliage. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 6 to 10 feet (2 - 3 m) tall and 3 feet (1 m) wide, an annual growth rate of 8 to 12 inches (20 - 30 cm).

This cultivar was selected, named and introduced by a German nurseryman with the last name of Germer. He named it for the town where he lived, Emsland in Germany's Lower Saxony region.
