Picea abies ‘Aspen Grove No. 3’

Picea abies 'Aspen Grove No. 3' is a flat-topped globose dwarf selection of Norway fir with dense, uniform branching and healthy looking gray-green foliage. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 18 to 24 inches (45 - 60 cm) tall and wide, an annual growth rate of 1.5 to 2 inches (4.5 - 6 cm).

This cultivar originated as a witch's broom found in the 1990s by Chub Harper and Randy Dykstra of Fulton, Illinois. They found the original broom in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa. In his field notes, Chub describes the broom as, "large size, medium height, not unusual."
