Picea abies ‘Ami’

Picea abies 'Ami' is a diminutive, bun-form of Norway spruce with short, congested branches holding shiny, bright-green needles. After 10 years of growth, a mature plant will measure 10 to 12 inches (25 - 30 cm) tall and wide, an average annual growth rate of less than 1 inch. This tiny jewel of a spruce would be perfect in a small rockery or trough garden.

This cultivar's origin is speculative at best. Its form suggests that it was a witch's broom selection that is thought to have come from Czech Republic in the 1990s.
