Larix gmelinii 'Tharandt' is a low, spreading dwarf selection of Dahurian larch with soft, light green foliage and cinnamon-brown branchlets. After 10 years of growth, a mature plant will measure 16 inches (40 cm) tall and 24 inches (60 cm) wide, an annual growth rate of 1.6 to 2.4 inches (4 - 6 cm).

This cultivar originated as a witch's broom found in the early 1990s at the Tharandt Forestry Botanical Garden near Dresden, Germany. The finder is unknown at this time.
