Juniperus horizontalis 'Golden Carpet' is a low, spreading selection of Creeping juniper with pleasant golden foliage that does not burn in full sun. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 4 feet (1.3 m) wide and only 4 inches (10 cm) high, an annual growth rate of 4 to 6 inches (10 - 15 cm).

This cultivar originated as a color sport found in the late 1980s on a specimen of Juniperus horizontalis 'Wiltonii' by H. Kruse, Bad Zwischenahn, Germany. H. J. van de Laar nursery of Boskoop, The Netherlands is credited with introducing it to the nursery trade in 1992.
