Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Lemon Thread' / Lemon Thread Sawara cypress

Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Lemon Thread' is a fairly slow-growing dwarf selection of Sawara cypress that grows in the form of a flattened cushion of a mixture of filamentous and typical foliage. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 4 feet (1.3 m) tall and 3 feet (1 m) wide, an annual growth rate of 4 to 5 inches (10 - 12.5 cm).

This cultivar originated as a branch sport found in the mid-1980s on a specimen of Ch. pisifera 'Lutescens' at John Mitsch Nursery, Aurora, Oregon, USA.
