Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Argenteovariegata' is a small, loose-growing, conical tree form of Sawara cypress with dark green foliage intermixed with bright silver branchlets. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 24 inches (60 cm) tall and wide, an annual growth rate of 2 to 3 inches (5 - 7.5 cm).
This is a old cultivar that originated in Japan long ago. Collector, Robert Fortune imported plants to England in 1861 to be introduced to the west through the Royal Nursery, Bagshot, United Kingdom.
