Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Saffron Spray’

Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Saffron Spray' is a slow-growing, upright selection of Hinoki cypress with dense branching, and green-gray juvenile foliage that is randomly flecked with deep yellow variegation. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 20 to 28 inches (50 - 70 cm) tall and 14 to 20 inches (35 - 50 cm) wide, an annual growth rate of 2 to 3 inches (5 - 7 cm).

This cultivar originated as a color sport found in the early 2000s, on a specimen of C. obtusa 'Chabo yadori', by Iseli Nursery, Boring, Oregon.
