Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Moonshine' / Moonshine Hinoki cypress

Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Moonshine' is an upright, globose selection of Hinoki cypress with tight uniform branching and dark-green sprays of foliage splashed with creamy white variegation. This conifer will look its best when planted in a morning sun/partial shade situation. This treatment will prevent the white foliage from burning. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 12 to 18 inches (30 - 45 cm) tall and wide, an annual growth rate of 1 to 2 inches (2.5 to 5 cm).

This cultivar originated as a seedling selected in the late 1990s by Talon Buchholz and introduced by Buchholz and Buchholz nursery, Gaston Oregon as part of the Flora Wonder™ collection.
