Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Maureen' / Maureen Hinoki cypress

Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Maureen' is a an irregular upright selection of Hinoki cypress, that despite having a bit of apical dominance, grows wider than tall. Medium green sprays of foliage have a bit of random creamy variegation that is quite attractive and distinctive. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 20 to 32 inches (50 - 80 cm) tall and 1.5 times as wide, an annual growth rate of 2 to 3 inches (5 - 7.5 cm).

This cultivar originated as a seedling selected in the early 1980s by Eddie Rezek of Malverne, Long Island, New York, USA. He named this popular conifer in honor of his wife.
