Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Little John’

Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Little John' is an irregular upright selection of Hinoki cypress with fairly dense, uniform branching. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 6 feet (2 m) tall and two-thirds as wide, an annual growth rate of 6 to 8 inches (15 - 20 cm).

[ Iseli Nursery, the originating organization, offers the addition descriptive information ] The outstanding character of the irregular, upright Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Little John'™ comes from a combination of foliage types. Some of it is tight sprays of congested, twisting fans that cup gracefully downward, and some is longer, more open shoots with red stems that reach up and out. Bronze winter tones add seasonal interest to this jolly fellow from Robin Hood'™s Merry Men.

Iseli Nursery of Boring, Oregon is credited with introducing this exceptional seedling selection
