Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Kosteri' / Koster's Hinoki cypress

Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Kosteri' is a very choice, irregularly pyramidal dwarf selection of Hinoki cypress with ascending branches and shell-like sprays of light olive-green foliage that assumes a bit of a yellow cast in winter. After 10 years of growth a mature specimen will measure 1.5 to 2 feet (50 - 60 cm) tall and somewhat narrower, an annual growth rate of 2 to 3 inches (5 - 7.5 inches).

This cultivar originated as a seedling selected in 1915 M. Koster & Son Nursery, Boskoop The Netherlands.
