Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Goldspire' is a narrowly upright, columnar selection of Hinoki cypress with erect branching, and lemon-yellow foliage that becomes coppery golden in winter in colder climates. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 40 inches (100 cm) tall and 12 inches (30 cm) wide, an annual growth rate of around 4 inches (10 cm).

This cultivar originated as a unique specimen found in 1963 at Pinetum Blijdenstein, Hilversum, The Netherlands. The name was first published by P. den Ouden in Manual of Cultivated Conifers.
