Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Goldilocks’

Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Goldilocks' is an intermediate-sized selection of Hinoki cypress with dense golden-yellow foliage. It is similar to C. obtusa 'Crippsii,' but a bit slower growing and stays denser to an older age. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 7.5 feet (2.5 m) tall and 4.5 feet (1.5 m) wide, an annual growth rate of 6 to 8 inches (15 - 20 cm).

This cultivar originated as a branch sport on a specimen of Ch. obtusa 'Nana Lutea' found in the mid 1970s by F.J. Grootendorst & Sons Nurseries, Boskoop, The Netherlands.
