Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Golden Fairy’

Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Golden Fairy' is a slow-growing, narrow, irregular-upright selection of Hinoki cypress with dense, bright, creamy yellow foliage and golden yellow tips. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 16 to 24 inches (40 - 60 cm) tall and 10 inches (25 cm) wide, an annual growth rate of 1.5 to 2 inches (4 - 6 cm).

This cultivar originated as one of many special seedlings selected in 1966 by Joel W. Spingarn of Baldwin, Long Island, New York from seed sourced from follow Long Islander, Henry Weissenberger.
