Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Filiformis Aurea’

Chamaeycparis obtusa 'Filiformis Aurea' is an upright, broadly pyramidal, yellow-variegated, threadleaf selection of Hinoki cypress. Plant structure is similar to C. obtusa 'Filiformis', but a bit slower growing due to reduced chlorophyll in the foliage. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 28 inches (70 cm) tall and 2-thirds as wide, an annual growth rate of 2 to 3 inches (5 - 7.5 cm).

This cultivar originated long ago in Japan. Onuma ex Beissner provided a botanical description in 1909.
