Chamaecyparis lawsoniana ‘Rijnhof’

Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Rijnhof' is a flat, ground-covering selection of Lawson cypress with dark, gray-green semi-juvenile foliage. Typical rate of growth in most areas in 2 to 4 inches (5 - 10 cm), per year, significantly wider than tall, resulting is a fluffy flat mat of foliage 20 inches (50 cm) tall and 36 inches (90 cm) wide after 10 years in the garden. This cultivar is noted for exceptional winter hardiness for this species.

'Rijnhof' came about as a seedling selection made by K. van Rijn nursery, Hazerswoude, The Netherlands in the late 1970s.
