Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Azurea' / Azurea Lawson cypress

Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Azurea' is a robust, upright, tree form of Lawson cypress, that is superficially similar to C. lawsoniana 'Alumii', but much more intensely colored, with somewhat heavier foliage. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 9 feet (2.5 m) tall and 6 feet (2 m) wide, an annual growth rate of less than 12 inches (30 cm).

This cultivar originated as a color / texture sport, found in the early-1960s by D. Wyman, and introduced to the nursery trade byMitsch Nursery, Aurora Oregon.
