Abies procera ‘Rick's Foxtail’

Abies procera 'Rick's Foxtail' is a narrow, upright tree-form of Noble fir with a thick, strong, central leader; short, lateral branching; and small fan-shaped sprays of blue-green needles. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 6 feet (2 m) tall and 2 feet (60 cm) wide, an annual growth rate of 6 to 8 inches. It's unique appearance and narrow footprint make 'Rick's Foxtail' very popular with conifer collectors and connoisseurs.

This cultivar originated as a seedling selected in the early 2000s at Hopper Brothers Nursery, Woodburn, Oregon. The the time of writing it is unknown who "Rick" is.
