Welcome to the American Conifer Society Database

Abies nordmanniana ‘Trautmann’

Abies nordmanniana 'Trautmann' is an upright narrow selection of Nordmann fir with fine, dark-green needles that grow twisted, revealing their silvery undersides. Young trees often grow with a spreading form before establishing apical dominance. After 10 years, a mature specimen will measure 4.5 feet (1.5 m) tall and half as wide, an annual growth rate of 4 to 6 inches (10 - 15 cm).

This cultivar originated as a seedling selected and named by Chris Trautmann of Amelia, Ohio, founder of the Cincinnati Conifer Society.
