Conifer Trees Database

Welcome to the American Conifer Society Database

Established in 1983, our mission is centered on advocating for the integration of conifer trees in garden designs and landscapes. We are dedicated to educating enthusiasts and the general public about the proper care, cultivation, and conservation of these majestic and diverse evergreens.

Abies lasiocarpa ‘Green Globe’

Abies lasiocarpa 'Green Globe' is a slow growing, semi-dwarf, globose selection of subalpine fir. With age, plants will become conical. Needles are short and dark gray-green in color. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 30 inches (75 cm) tall and wide, an annual growth rate of around 3 inches (7.5 cm).

Verkade Nursery of Wayne, New Jersey introduced this plant to the nursery trade in the late 1970s. It is one of eight selections made in 2020 for the popular ACS Collectors' Conifer of the Year program.
