Abies grandis ‘Compacta’

Abies grandis 'Compacta' is a very dense, globose, dwarf selection of grand fir that grows wider than high, with extremely short dark green needles measuring 0.4 to 0.6 inches (10 - 15 mm) long. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure only 12 inches (30 cm) tall and wide

This cultivar is known to the nursery trade since the 1890s, and thought to have been introduced by Herm A. Hesse Nurseries, Weener am Ems, Germany.
