Dark-green needles on this disk-shaped fir have a glossy appearance. This cultivar is a hybrid between the Subalpine Fir (lasiocarpa) and the Korean Fir (koreana). It is sometimes listed as Abies koreocarpa (x), which is likely a misnomer. It should be listed as Abies koreana x lasiocarpa 'Diskus'.A cultivated hybrid between Abies koreana and Abies lasiocarpa, intermediate between its parents. Individual leaves tend to resemble Abies lasiocarpa, usually being longer and narrower than in Abies koreana, but their arrangement on the shoots is more or less radial, as in Abies koreana. There are several designated cultivars assigned by Auders & Spicer (2012), including the Diskus Hybrid Fir.
- While the Abies koreana x lasiocarpa 'Diskus' cultivar of this name and parentage is illustrated and discussed by Auders & Spicer (2012, p.110–111), some believe the influence of A. lasiocarpa is not convincingly demonstrated. This may be a misassigned cultivar. The plant described by those authors forms a squat pyramid to <1 m in ten years, with broad, green leaves. It was listed by the Bethlehem Nursery, USA, in 2007.
